Lymphatic pneumatic compression devices are inflatable garments that are connected to a programmable pump. The pump applies pressure to the affected area by inflating and deflating the garment. The compression helps move blood through your veins towards your heart. IPC also promotes the natural release of substances in your body that help prevent clots. Between compressions, the cuffs of the device relax, and oxygen-rich blood continues to flow in the arteries of your leg.  Lymphatic pneumatic compression therapy is applied using cuffs that fill with air and squeeze the legs. Treatment is applied daily for 30–60 minutes, while in sports and exercise, treatment is applied after high-intensity sessions or competition for 20–30 minutes.
